Who is responsible

What this site does not do

No cookies, no analytics, no tracking, and no fonts or scripts loaded from anyone else's server. There is no contact form and no waiting list. Since nothing sets a cookie, there is no cookie banner either. One element does come from elsewhere: the Product Hunt badge on the home page, described below.

Server logs and hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Serving a request means processing what any web server needs: IP address, time, the file requested and the amount of data transferred. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in running the site securely.

Cloudflare acts as our processor. Cloudflare's Data Processing Addendum forms part of the subscription agreement and satisfies Art. 28 GDPR. Because Cloudflare is a US company, data may be transferred to the United States. That transfer is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) and, additionally, by Cloudflare's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We keep no logs of our own and have no access to the raw data.

The Product Hunt badge

The home page carries a badge linking to our Product Hunt listing. It is loaded directly from Product Hunt, Inc. (90 Gold Street, San Francisco, CA 94133, USA), because it shows the current number of upvotes and therefore cannot be served from here. When the page loads, your browser sends what any image request needs: IP address, time of the request, browser identification and the referring page. The badge sets no cookies.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in showing the Product Hunt listing as it currently stands. The transfer goes to the United States; Product Hunt is part of Y Combinator and relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for data transfers. If you would rather avoid it, a content blocker stops the request and the page works fully without the badge. Their own notice: producthunt.com/privacy.

The link to X

The home page carries an ordinary link to our profile on X. Nothing is embedded: no data reaches X unless you click it. After that, X's privacy policy applies.

If you email us

Write to info@get-atone.app and we process your message and address for one purpose, replying to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence once it is settled and nothing requires us to keep it. The address forwards to a private mailbox through Cloudflare Email Routing.

Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR). An informal email to info@get-atone.app is enough. You may also complain to a supervisory authority, ours being the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

The app itself

Atone has no account and no tracking. Which apps you limit, how long you use them and what you write into your promise stays on your iPhone. Apple's Screen Time framework makes it technically impossible for us to see any of it. That includes the reason you type when you go past your limit: it is stored on the device and never sent anywhere.

Payments, if you choose a stake

When you set up your promise you decide whether money is involved at all. If you pick the option without a stake, no payment data is processed and nothing in this section applies to you.

If you do put a stake on your promise, we use Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, Ireland, to store your card and collect the stake when it falls due. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own payment page and never reach us — we only ever hold a customer reference and your email address for the receipt. Stripe may transfer data to Stripe, Inc. in the United States on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses.

Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: performing the agreement you entered into when you set the stake. Stripe never learns which apps you chose, how long you used them, or what you wrote — it sees a charge, not your day. You can remove your card at any time; your promise then continues without money.
